Eight tools. Every step of a hand-built piece.

Cut, join, shape, carve, smooth. This set covers the full process, from the first slice off the block to the last pass before your piece dries. It all packs into a cloth dustbag and lives in a drawer until next time.

Key Features:

  • Covers every technique in the nirii project guides
  • Hardwood handles, stainless steel loops and rib
  • Sponge and cloth dustbag included
  • Two finishes: Beechwood and Rustic Cherry

Your hands do most of the work. These tools handle the rest: the clean edge, the tight seam, the smooth wall with no fingerprints.

Each tool has one job, and you'll use all eight within your first few projects. Nothing in this set sits unused in a drawer.

One more seat at the table.

Clay is better with company. Sharing tools isn't. Two people reaching for the same needle tool means someone is always waiting.

What each tool does

  1. Wire cutter. Slices clean portions off the block without squashing it. Also cuts slabs to an even thickness.
  2. Needle tool. Scores surfaces before you join two pieces, which is the step that keeps air-dry joins from cracking. Also trims edges and pierces holes for hanging ornaments.
  3. Steel rib. Smooths flat surfaces and erases fingerprints. The flexible edge follows curves.
  4. Wooden rib. Shapes and compresses the walls of bowls and dishes. The thumb hole gives you grip.
  5. Wooden modeling knife. Cuts shapes, blends seams, and draws clean lines.
  6. Double-ended loop tool. Two wire loops for carving, texturing, and removing small amounts of clay.
  7. Ribbon tool. A wide loop for hollowing out thicker pieces so they dry evenly.
  8. Sponge. Used damp, not wet, it softens surface cracks and gives a smooth finish before drying.

Plus: a cloth dustbag that keeps everything together.

Care

Wipe clean with a damp cloth and let dry before bagging. Don't soak the wooden tools, since water swells the wood and loosens the handles. Dry the metal pieces after use.
